Liesel Meminger
In the book, Liesel started out being traumatized by her brother's death. For many years Liesel was terrorized by the image of her brother's death. After Liesel's experience, she was taken to a family that would foster her. The family was a married couple named Rosa and Hans Huberman. When Liesel's brother died, she found a book named "The Grave Diggers Handbook," and took the book just to hang on of the memory of her brother.
Liesel learned how to read throughout the whole book. What really sparked this ambition was her being humiliated when she tried to read in front of her class. Liesel earned the nickname "The Book Thief" because throughout most of the book she stole books to get new content to read. Liesel had many hardships throughout the book, but the hardest one of all was the thought of loosing Max Vandenburg. Liesel wondered for many weeks if Max had died due to sickness, but when she really lost him, was when he was taken away to Dachau.
At the very end of he book Liesel starts to write her own book which in turn saved her life at the very end (or she would've gotten bombed because of the bombing of Molching). As the book tells us Liesel grows old and has a family of her own. When Molching was bombed it was the last time Liesel saw Rudy Stiener and it was the only time Rudy got a kiss from Liesel.
